Academic School “Psychology and Journalism”

 

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE ACADEMIC SCHOOL

Goal of the Academic School: to create the conditions and organize the educational process in such a way that future specialists not only gain theoretical knowledge but also develop a set of practical skills and abilities across a wide range of professional fields and activities.

Objectives of the Academic School:

— Preparing future specialists for professional activities.

— Shaping attitudes and ideas for continuous personal and professional growth, self-improvement, self-development, and acquiring new knowledge and competencies in innovative areas of psychological science and practice.

— Training future specialists with a systemic understanding of psychological and pedagogical theory and practice, equipped with skills in scientific-pedagogical, research, and practice-oriented activities based on modern and effective teaching methods using current educational tools and informational resources.

— Preparing future psychologists and journalists as competitive professionals.

— Educating specialists in the spirit of universal ethics and morals, tolerance, patriotism, and respect for various cultures, traditions, and customs.

Vision: The Academic School “Psychology and Journalism” aims to be a competitive, dynamic, and creative team of professionals with high culture and performance in key areas: education, research, and international collaboration.

Expected Results: Ensuring academic excellence and increasing the competitive appeal of education among talented youth.

 

MECHANISMS FOR IMPLEMENTING THE DEPARTMENT’S STRATEGIC PLAN

 

STRATEGIC DIRECTION #1: Training Competitive Professionals

Improving educational programs aimed at forming competitive specialists through the integration of education, science, and industry.

STRATEGIC DIRECTION #2: Scientific Activity

Development and increased effectiveness of the department’s research activities.

STRATEGIC DIRECTION #3: International Cooperation

3.1 Integration into the international environment, promoting the introduction of global standards into the educational process and achieving international quality standards in educational programs.

STRATEGIC DIRECTION #4: Student Personality Development

4.1 Development of leadership qualities, sociocultural, moral-spiritual, and entrepreneurial competencies in future specialists.

4.2 Formation of socially adapted individuals with strong civic responsibility, a sense of patriotism, and tolerance.

4.3 Development of entrepreneurial competencies among future specialists.

4.4 Shaping leaders oriented towards success.

STRATEGIC DIRECTION #5: Strategic Analysis of the Academic School’s Activities

5.1. Creation of a departmental education quality diagram.

5.2. Criteria for a modern academic school.

5.3. Identification of “weak points” in the educational process.

5.4. Development of a roadmap for goal achievement.

STRATEGIC DIRECTION #6: Future Employment of Students

6.1. Signing agreements with enterprises and organizations for internships and future employment.

6.2. Conducting round tables on employment issues with employers.

6.3. Improving the content of all types of professional practice, promoting career development, and strengthening collaboration with Employment Centers regarding job placement and career advancement.

STRATEGIC DIRECTION #7: Faculty Development

7.1. Professional development of department faculty:

– Create a “Tәlіmger” circle;

– Each faculty member must complete at least one 72-hour professional development course annually;

– Promote trilingualism among department members.

7.2. Educational development:

– Improve teaching materials: develop textbooks for department specialties, video lectures, and e-learning resources.

– Develop teaching and learning resources for students’ and master’s independent work.

– Develop electronic courses for “Psychology” and “Journalism” programs.

7.3. Research development:

– Develop joint research on the academic school’s topic: “Empirical Research in Psychology.”

– Expand student and master’s participation in scientific research.

– Develop scientific research in the “Psychology” and “Journalism” programs.

7.4. Development of graduate employment support systems:

– Sign agreements with enterprises and organizations for internships and employment;

– Organize round tables on employment issues with employers in Almaty.

STRATEGIC DIRECTION #8: Material and Technical Base

8.1. Update the library and classroom resources.

8.2. Open virtual laboratories for the “Psychology” program.

8.3. Launch the “Q-TV” television studio and “Q Radio” radio channel.
