Kainar University was established in October 1991 as a multidisciplinary institution with a socio-humanitarian focus, admitting the first cohort of 44 students in the following majors: "Kazakh Language", "Pedagogy and Psychology".
In 1992, Kainar University admitted 56 students into newly introduced programs in the country: "International Relations", "International Economic Relations", and "International Law". These curricula were developed based on MGIMO"s programs and became the foundation of the national standard of Kazakhstan.
Kainar University received an educational activity license No. 00001. Since September 1, 1993, the university has launched a new program in "Jurisprudence".
A joint meeting was held between the Rector of Kainar University, E.S. Omarov, and the Rector of MGIMO, Prof. A.A. Torkunov, with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, N.A. Nazarbayev.
Kainar University received a letter of appreciation from the President of the “Bobek” Foundation, S.A. Nazarbayeva, for training specialists in pedagogy and psychology. Since September 1, 1995, the university has opened the following programs: Accounting and Auditing, Economics, Management, and again Accounting and Auditing.
Kainar University was visited by Prince Charles of Wales. The university began publishing its first scientific journal, "KAINAR University Bulletin". Kainar also opened its first master’s program and issued the first diplomas in Kazakhstan numbered 1 through 12 to its graduates.
Kainar University received international accreditation from the National Accreditation Agency "NAAR". Since September 1, 1997, the university has opened the Department of General Education Disciplines titled "General Professional Disciplines".
Kainar College was established under Kainar University.
On November 8, 2000, the Institute for Economic Research (IER) began operating at Kainar University. The university also released the first issue of the scientific journal "Kazakh Civilization". From 2000 to 2003, a dissertation council operated at the university for the defense of candidate dissertations in the specialty 07.00.02 – National History (History of Kazakhstan), where 24 candidate dissertations were successfully defended.
Kainar University successfully passed the state accreditation procedure. From February 22 to 24, 2001, Kainar University became the first in Kazakhstan to organize an international scientific conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the country’s independence.
Kainar University, in anticipation of the World Summit on Sustainable Development, held an international conference in June titled "Globalization and the Issue of Sustainable Development of the EAEU Countries".
Since 2003, Kainar University has been a member of the international research institute CEDIMES (France). In collaboration with CEDIMES and the Academy, significant events were held, such as joint MBA programs with double diplomas, faculty exchange, lectures by professors from various countries (France, Greece, Canada, USA, UK), joint international conferences, and more.
Kainar University, in collaboration with its French partner, CEDIMES Institute (Paris, France), organized the international conference "Interaction of Western and Eastern Civilizations" from March 31 to April 2, 2004.
From July 5 to 9, 2005, Kainar University, in collaboration with UNESCO and its French partner, CEDIMES Institute (Paris, France), held the traditional symposium of scholars called the "Forum of Civilizations".
Kainar University hosted a major international scientific conference on the topic: "Modern Civilization and the Issues of Enhancing the Competitiveness of the Nation-State".
Kainar University opened the specialty "Journalism" starting from September 1, 2009.
The rector of Kainar University, E.S. Omarov, signed the Magna Charta of Universities in Bologna (Italy). In order to solve the problem of combining education and technology, as well as implementing and transforming breakthrough ideas into services and industrial products, the Academy of Technologies (AT) was established at Kainar University.
Kainar University has a Psychological Center, which serves as a consultative body providing assistance to students and faculty members.
Kainar University was transformed into the "Kainar" Academy. The "Kainar" Academy established a Mediation Center.
The "Kainar" Academy has established a Kinesiology Center. The "Kainar" Academy has opened a Center for providing free consultative legal services. The "Kainar" Academy has created the Public Organization "Kazakh Psychological Society" as an independent structure to develop psychological science in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The "Kainar" Academy successfully passed the institutional and specialized accreditation of NAAR. The "Kainar" Academy opened the specialties "Organization of transportation, movement, and operation of transport" and "Information systems" starting from September 1, 2018.
The "Kainar" Academy successfully passed the institutional and specialized post-accreditation of NU "NAAR".
The "Kainar" Academy and the company "Scientific Publications" signed a memorandum of cooperation. At the meeting, the leadership of the Academy and the founder of "Scientific Publications" company, Denis Sergeevich Pilipenko, discussed further partnership in the development of the scientific sphere at the institution. According to the NAAR ranking, the "Kainar" Academy ranked 16th among 30 OVPs. The "Kainar" Academy entered the top ten in the educational program "Psychology" (bachelor"s and master"s) ranking 4th in the NAAR ranking and 6th in the NPP "Atameken" ranking. The "Kainar" Academy successfully passed the institutional and specialized accreditation at the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (NAAR) from May 4-6, 2021.
The "Kainar" Academy held the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference on May 4, 2022. The materials of the speakers were dedicated to the implementation of the Address of the Head of State to the people of Kazakhstan from March 16, 2022, titled "New Kazakhstan: The Path of Renewal and Modernization." The "Kainar" Academy successfully passed post-accreditation at NU "NAAR" from May 23-26, 2023. Based on the decision of the Academic Council and the Rector"s order, the "Kainar" Academy underwent a rebranding and became the "QAINAR" Academy.
The "Kainar" Academy was transformed into "Q" University as of January 4, 2024, and is carrying out educational activities based on the re-registration of the legal entity and reissue of the General License No. KZ62LAA00036139 dated 06.02.2024, issued by the KOKSNVO Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
