Teleconference with Law Students and Juvenile Offenders
On March 20, 2026, a teleconference was held at the University, organized by the Academic School of Law in cooperation with representatives of the Almaty City Police Department and the Department of the Penal Enforcement System. The event was conducted for students of the educational program 6B042 “Law.”
Topic of the meeting: “Prevention of criminal offenses among youth: prevention of drug-related crimes and other types of offenses.”
A lecture was delivered by a representative of the Anti-Drug Crime Unit of the Almaty City Police Department, Police Major Sulushash Akylbekovna Dospolova. In her speech, she подробно addressed issues of preventing drug-related offenses among young people and outlined the main risks and preventive measures.
In an online format, Bagdat Sharafatovich Talabay, Major of Justice and Head of the Department of Educational and Socio-Psychological Work among Convicts of Institution No. 11 of the Almaty Penal Enforcement System, also spoke. He provided information on the conditions of detention and the serving of sentences by juveniles.
As part of the teleconference, an online dialogue was held with juvenile offenders serving prison sentences. Participants shared personal stories, spoke about the offenses they had committed and their living conditions, expressed remorse and awareness of the consequences of their actions, and emphasized the importance of obeying the law in the future.
The event was held in an open discussion format. Students received comprehensive information about the current state of drug-related crime and the conditions of detention of juveniles in correctional facilities.
The meeting took place in a constructive and trusting atmosphere. Participants noted its high significance and practical value.
