On December 10, 2024, the Academic School of Psychology and Journalism of Q University hosted a solemn round table titled “The Great Educator,” dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences and Professor Zholmukhan Turkpenuly — a distinguished scholar whose life’s work became an invaluable contribution to the development of education and psychology in Kazakhstan
During the event, colleagues and students presented thoughtful reports highlighting Professor Turkpenuly’s pivotal role in psychological and pedagogical science, his lifelong teaching journey, and his enduring devotion to education
Professor Z. Turkpenuly is a renowned scientist who dedicated 76 years of his life to advancing national education, leaving behind an exceptional legacy of hard work and scholarly achievement. His outstanding service has been recognized with numerous honors, including the titles “Excellent Worker of Public Education of the USSR,” “Distinguished Teacher,” and the medals “Y. Altynsarin,” “For Valiant Labor,” “Glory of Labor,” “Struggle for Life,”among other state awards.
His textbook “Psychology of Education” remains an essential resource in preparing future educators and continues to hold great relevance since its first publication. Over the past four decades, Professor Turkpenuly has authored more than 200 scientific works and articles. Of particular significance are his studies of the intellectual heritage of the eminent pedagogue-psychologist Tolegen Tazhibaev, which have become a true treasure for the field of pedagogical psychology.
The event concluded with a heartfelt ceremony in which the faculty and staff of Q University and the Academic School of Psychology and Journalism — where Professor Turkpenuly dedicated many fruitful years of his career — warmly congratulated the esteemed scholar and honored him on the occasion of his 90th anniversary.
