Q University hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Family, Parenthood and Migration in the Modern World: Legal, Social and Demographic Challenges.” Scholars, faculty members, doctoral candidates, master’s students, and practitioners from Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and China took part. Some presentations were delivered online.
The conference was held within the framework of research project IRN AP22688447, “Motherhood at the Crossroads: Protecting the Rights of Migrant Mothers (Kazakhstan’s Experience and International Standards),” funded by the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the Zhas Galym programme for 2024–2026.
The plenary session addressed migrants’ legal culture, the protection of migrant mothers, demographic trends, and public policy priorities.
The parallel sessions covered family and parenthood, demographic development, the economics of migration, digitalization and integration, social policy, family health and well-being, and international experience.
Participants were presented with the research project’s findings and publications prepared within its framework: a monograph on the international legal protection of migrant mothers, an atlas, an album of diagrams, and a practical guide for migrant mothers and volunteers. A conference proceedings volume was also published.
The closing session reviewed the work of the parallel sessions and discussed the draft conference resolution.
