Debate on the Topic: “Will Artificial Intelligence Be Able to Completely Replace Humans in the Legal Profession in the Future?”
As part of the academic and educational activities of the Academic School of Law, a student debate on the relevant topic “Will Artificial Intelligence Be Able to Completely Replace Humans in the Legal Profession in the Future?” was held on September 30, 2026. The debate was organized by Dengilbai Orazbaevich Tolebayev, Master of Law and Senior Lecturer at the School, together with third-year students of the Kazakh-language program.
The event focused on one of the most significant contemporary trends — the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies and their potential application in the legal sphere. During the debate, the participants represented the positions of two sides — the Government and the Opposition — and presented well-reasoned arguments concerning the prospects for using artificial intelligence in judicial proceedings, notarial activities, and other areas of legal practice.
The debate judges were faculty members of the Academic School of Law: Nurlan Salamatovich Ibraev, Candidate of Legal Sciences and Associate Professor; Dengilbai Orazbaevich Tolebayev, Master of Law and Senior Lecturer; Zhanar Soltangazievna Shalabaeva, Master of Law and Senior Lecturer; and Indira Satanovna Amreeva, Master of Law and Senior Lecturer.
The event was honored by the presence of Talgat Tleugabylovich Orazbek, Candidate of Technical Sciences, PhD, and Professor at the School of IT and Services, as a distinguished guest.
The debate was conducted in a substantive and constructive discussion format. The participants demonstrated their ability to defend their positions with well-founded arguments, analyze contemporary legal and technological processes, and critically assess the potential consequences of implementing artificial intelligence in legal practice.
Holding such events contributes to the development of students’ analytical and critical thinking, public speaking and legal argumentation skills, as well as the formation of a culture of professional discussion. Furthermore, addressing current issues at the intersection of law and modern technologies enables students to gain a deeper understanding of the prospects for the development of the legal profession in the context of digital transformation.
